SHED OPENING TIMES
Bikers Shed is a Free To Use Community Garage for like-minded people within the biking community to come together, share, learn and assist in all things motorcycling. Covering all aspects of motorcycling including maintenance, road craft and basic first aid. We at Bikers Shed truly feel that through doing this we can help to reduce the ever-growing number of motorcycle road fatalities (prior planning prevents poor performance). Every member is valued with different levels of life experience and different types of motorcycles. Each having different levels of road craft to share with fellow bikers, sharing stories over a cup of tea, expanding members contact list and making new like-minded friends.
Who are we?
Bikers shed is a volunteer ran project consisting of Team Leader Tom Lowe and Shed Team, Sandra Lowe, Stephen Kearney, Stephen Doyle, Gintautas Cepaitis, Patrick May, Dave Power, Dave Nolan, Maggie Burchell, John Travers and Ann Doyle. We have been given massive support from Mountrath Community Forum who have leased us the facility to run our project from.
The Bikers Shed concept was inspired by Tom Hanrahan of QC Customs and is a place of learning where we give new motorcyclists the opportunity to learn at their own pace and answer any questions they may have in relation maintenance or road craft.
We have the tools
We have the tools required to carry out all maintenance tasks you may require to perform. There are 2 x 500Kg lifts along with a cruiser lift. We’ve compressed air, a sand blaster, tools for metal work (Incl welders), electrical work, suspension work, seals and bearing work and all manner of sockets, spanners, screw drivers & torque wrenches. Our Free to Use garage is fitted out as well as any motorcycle mechanic shop. (Note; Due to insurance reasons some of the higher risk tools may only be used by Team Members).
Take it or leave it
We’ve received good used and unused motorcycle PPE (gloves, jackets, trousers, boots) that are donated by our members these items are on display in the Bikers Shed and if members are in need of motorcycle PPE they can come and try it on, If It Fits Its Yours. This motorcycle PPE is doing what it was manufactured for, saving lives not gathering dust in the closet.
First Aid
We have successfully run FBOS (First Bike On Scene) courses in conjunction with Bikerstraining.com & CFR-C training. There are now upward of 90 First Responders who have the knowledge to deal with the unexpected, potentially saving lives if the inevitable ever happens. We strive to have all Bikers Shed Team Members qualified in both of these certified courses.
We believe it should not cost money to save lives. As such the Bikers Shed Team aims to become trained CFR-C Instructors so that we can provide free of charge training in Cardiac First Response to the local community.
